JUMBO excursion

its the new year but some how it seems like end of last year. if u know wad i'm babbling.
time passes.
i'm blogging for last year and i feel guilty abt it. although i don get paid or wadever i think this shows how unmotivated i am with my food blog *guilty guilty guilty*
alright, for christmas eve i went to JUMBO!!!!
yeah. not to mention the self prepared after dinner gathering. was full all the way from christmas eve till new year eve. hehehe.
alright simple dishes cos only 2 of us. but it was nearly a hundred bucks alr.....
first up, all time favourite hotplate tofu....
the tofu is smooth although was pondering whether its the handmade tofu or not....
the presentation was creative and a plastic looking cover was used when it was served.
most importantly this hotplate tofu can nvr be beaten. look closely and u will see:
tofu
egg
SCALLOP
MUSHROOM
PRAWNS

if u are a geographer u will know the that a pencil is always used to make comparison to the size of an object. so here please look at how big the scallops are in comparison to the tofu. wahaha. not all big things taste good, but this is the perfect combi anyone can get.

wad's JUMBO without crabS?????
chillli crab.
a slight tingly spicy sauce
topped with eggs that flows into ur mouth making the crabs just slidding into ur gullet.
meat is not too soft not too hard but QQ
natural sweetness of crab being locked in
great marriage between the crab and the sauce.
jus a gentle regret that the sauce looked and tasted a little starchy.

this is JUMBO'S award winning prawn.
forgot its exact name but its actually salted egg yoke with prawn. if u had tasted salted egg with crabs you'll have a better impression. the use of salted eggs is a brilliant idea (personal fan of salted eggs.) it blends well with the prawns and had a taste of the red and green peppers in it so it doesn't taste sick after a while. prawns had the right crisp and jumped ard when chewing (trying very hard to say its fresh) the egg yokes miraculously manage to stick to the prawns such that u won feel like u are eating them seperately. (like drinking milo powder den swallow water). all the dished ordered made me salivate when i look at the pictures. get me to JUMBO now!

auntie note: GST AND SERVICE charge can be a killer. we had a discount when we use citibank credit. rmb to also make reservation if going on a wkend u don wan to be disappointed.

chrismas carols in january

woosh.

guess its been long since i last posted. i got the 三分钟热度afterall. confirmed.

guess i will try to do it more often now since i'm back in sch hostel. days had been fun. with more girly outings and eat outs. perhaps a food blog survives well with more updats. and yes! guess the place of this location.
its not in the east where i reside.

look at the interiors and u will notice the christmas tree and guess when i've been there. oops!
this is island creamery.....
each time i patronise this small ice cream shop i'm spoilt for choice.
if i know how to estimate well there's more than 20 flavours to choose from.
spare me all those lousy flavours that u know like boring vanillla, plain rasberry, forever only 1 of a kind chocolate. the flavours made available will shock you!
my favourite will be teh tarik!
but sadly i don have a picture of it. boooooooooooo......
i once described the taste of teh tarik ice cream to my boy and he says i sounded like so incredible. whahahaahahah....
ok here it goes. i'm sure all of u tasted some different flavoured ice cream like fruits or rum.
some might even tried the legendary teh tarik i mentioned.
but u will not fail to forget the taste of the one at island creamery.
recall the time when the ice cream melts in your mouth, was it after a mouth or 2 that u start to doubt, think, hesitate before you confirme the flavour? yes, that will be when u had eaten lousy quality ice cream. in comparison, island creamery is able to produce ice cream that you won't have to question its flavour. before u even put it in ur mouth, the smell floats to your nose. when it melts in your mouth the flavours burst inside you and u the smell lingers for a while. every spoonful is fresh and 齿颊留香, the xiang refers to 茶香 if u know how to appreciate tea.
this was my proud order. apple pie and pulut hitam. both commendable. apple pie tasted great, there were even some crust in the ice cream for the biting sensation. its not the apple pie of macdonalds but those u get in oldern bakery that mummy buys from the neighbourhood shop. pulut hitam was special, a pity i aint a fan of the particular desert. yet i fell in love w this at once. to me it was the little shells of the glutinous that reminded me of the potong red bean ice cream that we all used to eat when we were young. those that stucked in the teeth. (btw, potong no longer taste as good) i guess the memory of eating ice cream is common among children of my age( note the use of the word children). :)
below are some of the other creations my friends ordered. shall not comment as i haven really tasted them. but some valuable feedback will be that the brownies there are delicious. give it a try.

auntie note: no gst, no service charge, young and cute looking girls, free flow plain water. not a bad place to slack on a friday night. a pity that it doesn't operate tiill late night. plus location isn;t very bus stop friendly.
