Another girls day out for makan and jalan jalan....

headed to Shiseido Sale early in the morning followed by some shopping and most importantly snacking



Don't be deceived by the huge looking cup of yogurt, its actually only up to half of its depth. JCO famous for donuts now offer even more varieties, yogurt.

now having a promotion for this fat free healthy food.



$4 for yogurt and 3 toppings.

We chose:

Strawberry -rich in vitamins and helps prevent cancer and heart disease.

Longan- Source of Fibre

Mandarin Orange - source of Vitamin A and Vitamin C.

Yogurt is slightly more sour than other similar brands.

Overall, it was a satisfying snack

BFF with lips licking good yogurt!

CNY IN APRIL

exams are finally over and i seriously need to do some catching up. found out that this post is long long overdue. imagine CNY in april? hah. this won lead me to my first advertorial.

before i start ranting. this post is a "can do can don do" i decided to update this because its quite a significant event cos its chinese new year, but at the same time was pondering if i should.

this place should be highly raved as it was recommended in one of the shows on channel 8. (or izt channel U?) its a show that features all the tzi char stalls and this particular tzi char stall i visited is suppose to be famous for incorporating fruits in their dishes.

so first up, we have the honey pork ribs. as u can see from the picture, the ribs don have bones.

this is a "thumbs up" point. average dish as this is not their "zhao pai". the meat is tender, you don really have to chew much to settle this piece of meat. sweet enough to satisfy me.

Next up is the "tie ban dou fu" hot plate tofu. sizzling hot, slightly on the spicy side as compared to other stalls offering this dish. the tofu however is not home made (if you like home made toufu can ask me abt it). the same verdict; average

alright, finally we look at the chef's specials. its called "草莓鸡", which means strawberry chicken. hehe, direct translation. alright, now please follow the steps listed below to accompany me in revealing the truth of the mystery chicken.
step 1: close your eyes. yes, close it
step 2: imagine walking into a convenience store
step 3: pick up a box of pocky
step 4: make sure its strawberry flavour
step 5: pay at the counter
step 6: go and get chicken cutlet from the nearest western food stall you know
step 7: eat both of them together.
thats it, you know wad i mean? the taste is articficial. it taste exactly like pocky strawberry flavour.

the best of the average. "蜜瓜虾" melon prawn direct translation. the sauce is finger licking good. slightly salty but the fragrance of the melon comes floating even after u swallow it. the sauce and rice goes well with each other. the prawns are cruchy cruchy type and they are huge enough to let you bite it into half in order to fit into your mouth. love it.

basically, this place is not worth the trip from my place to toa payoh. not even bothered to search for the address, if you want please go and search from the mediacorp webby.

this shop has got its own distinct form of identification.


smell


smell of durian.

tucked away in a small corner of serangoon garden. the interiors of this place attracted me.
its a very "hongkong like" concept to have shops on the second floor. even though u have to climb the stairs its still worth the effort.
the decorations are simple yet bring u back to the 1980s. with old recorders, hong kong movie posters and little decorations put up to teleport u back into the old teahouse. this place is 24/7 smelling fragrant. even the MTV is lee hom, idol. hehehe....

the picture above is a mix of strawberry, and mango with vanilla ice cream.
i should say satisfactory.
the sugar syrup used should be high quality brown sugar and its leaves the scent of sweetness we get just like when we eat ondeh ondeh. not too sweet. however, i felt that it lacked a bit of flavour as i expected more mango or fruity taste to it.
the fruits are fresh but i guess in singapore we can't get to eat sweet fruits as they are often plucked before they turn ripe.



next up, the jackfruit desert. unique.
not overpowering, and out of the 3 desert ordered i liked this the most.
there are real jackfruit flesh in it.
the sago in the desert is quite a match and gives it the "kou gan" or should we call it the bite.
however, i was hoping that the texture or should we say the density could have been thicker.




this is the source of the frangrance.
durian.
this is moist, with real durian flesh, is smooth and given the taste of coconut milk to enhance the flavour giving it a lift. the durian taste lingers in your mouth but manage to go down smoothly without leaving a stench. which will make u continue having more.
a real gem in the place and i will strongly encourage u to give it a try.
but, it is too much for 1 person to finish as the taste is really like eating durian cream. so pls try to share. but don't give it a miss k.






these are the other special desert that i am interested to try but is too full to order so many, the mango de creme gives me the impression of creme brulee^ which i love to the max. other more innovative desert include durian pancake which is rather pricey (4.90) for a slice if i remembered correctly.







this is a real find. will be back again probably with the gfs.

magazines are also available. so keep urself occupied at this place, read for free! jap magazines, hong kong magazines. plus free music. lady serving is very frendly but only speaks mandarin.
